Awful Announcing has the news on what broadcast teams will be calling the Sweet Sixteen games, and you’re going to be happy (at least I think you will). Verne Lundquist and Bill Raftery have been assigned to the East Regionals, and will call Villanova’s clash with Duke on Thursday night.bill-raftery

For what it’s worth, Dick Enberg and Jay Bilas (who announced ‘Novas first games) will be in the West.

…I don’t know what is is, but it seems that year after year Gus Johnson gets the short end of the stick…I was almost certain that if he didn’t get the East (by far the most intriguing set of games) that he’d get to do Gonzaga…you know since it feels like he’s called all of their games…

…Anyways all I have to say to this news is ONIONS!…

CBS has released their announcing pairs for the NCAA Tournament, and the phenomenal blog Awful Announcing was the first to break the news. Pairings are listed below.final-four-logo

  • Jim Nantz/Clark Kellogg
  • Dick Enberg/Carter Blackburn/Jay Bilas
  • Verne Lundquist/Bill Raftery
  • Gus Johnson/Len Elmore
  • Kevin Harlan/Dan Bonner
  • Ian Eagle/Jim Spanarkel
  • Craig Bolerjack/Bob Wenzel
  • Tim Brando/Mike Gminski

The sideline reporters will Lesley Visson, Tracy Wolfson and Sam Ryan.

Hopefully I won’t have to worry about this kind of thing. If we’re in the Philly pod I’ll be at the games, but if we advance into the Sweet Sixteen here’s hoping we draw Johnson/Elmore or Lundquist/Raftery. I’d love to avoid Brando/Gminski and Dick Enberg, even though he’s paired with Jay Bilas.
