Jay Wright joined ESPN personality (and noted Villanova hater) Mike Missanelli on his radio show today. As per usual, as soon as Jay joined the show, Mikey Miss started to suck up to him. The two talked about a number of topics including how Jay gets his team to play so hard night in and night out, how the loss to Temple affected the team, and Jay’s opinion of dog-killer sidekick Donovan McNabb.
Corey Stokes‘ brother Brandon, who goes by BiZz, has officially released his remake of last year’s hit song. The beat remains the same, but the lyrics have been altered for this year’s team! Check it out!
While the NBA season doesn’t start for another couple of months, Ed Pinckney is already teaming up with Philadelphia 76ers play-by-play broadcaster Marc Zumoff. Recently hired as the new color analyst for the 76ers, Pinckney sat down for a minutes with Zumoff on CSN Philly to discuss what he’s been up to recently, what he will bring to the broadcast booth, and his thoughts on the upcoming season for the 76ers.
The above link will take you to the video page for Comcast SportsNet. Click on the Sixers Tab and the interview is from “9/1-Marc Zumoff talks with new color analyst Ed Pinckney.”
There’s a short video clip on Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia featuring Dante Cunningham and Jay Wright giving their thoughts on the recent historic season. It was posted on April 22nd, so I assume it comes from the banquet held that day. Dante has been reflecting on the season, and so has Jay, but Jay said it hasn’t set in what this senior class has meant to the program.
It still hasn’t really set in yet for me either, and I don’t think it will until next year when the freshman come in and maybe suffer through some first year struggles. This is where Dante, Dwayne Anderson, Shane Clark, and Frank Tchuisi truly excelled, as every time they suffered some sort of setback, they persevered and overcame the hardships.
Jay Wright appeared on the Boomer & Carton program this morning on WFAN. Wright talks about his team’s run through the tournament, the upcoming game vs. North Carolina, and his love for Villanova.
This evening Jay Wright talked with WFAN’s Mike Francesa about the Wildcats impressive run to the Final Four. Brian just sent me the link, and I haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet, but I imagine it is pretty good.
Francesa was calling Tyler Hansbrough ‘worthless’ all day, so it’s probably a pro-Nova interview as always.
Coach Jay Wright was on 950 ESPN Radio yesterday with Mikey Mizz breaking down Thursday’s match-up with Duke as well as the chances Jay would leave Villanova for an NBA job. He also talked with Mike about how Villanova gets no love from Philly, a dominant theme recently on the sports talk airwaves. Give it a quick listen.
…Even though Mike’s constant St. Joe’s homerism drives me up the wall… I can’t deny that he doesn’t have a fundamental understanding of Philly basketball…..its just a shame that he wastes all his time on such a low-life squad such as St. Joes and the rest of the Big 5…oh wait…I did just write that didn’t I?…
..In all seriousness, I did happen to call into 950 yesterday to give my side on this whole “Villanova gets no love from Philly” business, and we at IBBW will have something up later on tonight about it…..as for the 950 call……lets just say that I got cut off rather quickly when referring to currentgames between St. Joe’s and Villanovaas “matchups” instead of a rivalry…..seeing as both teams need to consistently beat the snot out of each other to be known as a true rivarly…
Brandon Stokes a.k.a. BizZ (the older brother of Corey Stokes) just left a message in the original thread where we first posted his ‘Nova Nation song.
Here’s what he had to say:
THANX FOR ALL THE LOVE AND FEEDBACK ON THE SONG I APPRECIATE IT. FOR ALL THE PEOPLE THAT ARE WONDERING, I WILL BE MAKING A 09-10 UPDATED SONG FOR NEXT YEAR AND WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE ONE EVERY YEAR!
The IBBW guys are big fans of the song, and everyone we’ve shared it with loves it to, so thanks Brandon. And keep up the good work.
Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski (yes I had to look it up) was a guest on ESPN’s Mike & Mike radio show hosted by Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic. On the show, Coach K talks about how he sees the matchup on Thursday and how the two teams are very similar, and what coaching the Olympics did for him.
Jay Wright was a guest on The Midday Show with Evan Roberts and Joe Benigno today. Wright talked to the duo about Villanova’s victory last night over American, as well as what lays ahead for the Wildcats.
