Pena really stepped up this year, but I do agree that he needs to cut down on the fouls.
I’m on the fence as to how his contribution will be effected with Yarou taking on a larger role… I want to say that its good for him in terms of less attention…. what do you guys think?
If Yarou continues to play great it will take some of the pressure of Pena. I think they are the key, if they continue to score in double figures teams will have to take some of their focus off Scottie and open up things on offense.
I’d love to see Pena & Yarou in the starting lineup together against teams like Syracuse and Georgetown that have dominant front courts. That would take a lot of heat off our guards in those games.
This isn’t on the subject but just wanted to let readers know what a strange line dante C. put up last night for Portland’s win over Indiana. He only scored four points (jumper wasn’t falling) but he led the team with eight rebounds and had four steals. Danny Granger scored 30 for Indiana until the Blazers put dante on him. Then he didn’t score at all. It appears that DC could have a long NBA career being a defensive & rebound specialist and contributing 8-10 points per game.

He’s still the tiniest bit soft, but I will be damned if he isn’t the most improved player on this team, and the barometer for our success.
Needs to cut down on the fouls, but he has played great this year and we desperately need his contribution. Look out for him next year, though. Dude should be turbo-good.
