Thanks to blog reader Katie for mentioning the story in the comments of the previous post.  Sure enough, Corey Stokes was cited for public urination last night on the Main Line.  The key here is that Stokes was not arrested, unlike Reggie Redding, who was arrested prior to the season and susbsequently suspended.  The article mentions that Stokes is likely to play against Syracuse on Saturday, but it will be interesting to see how Jay Wright handles this.  A second player in trouble with the law in a very short time frame does not look good for a premiere coach like Wright.

Funny thing is I was at the same bar Stokes and some of his teammates were at last night.  Hopefully, this does not become a distraction, especially now heading into March.

the espn comment section is now a running joke to that effect.
He shouldn’t have done it, but who hasn’t done something as dumb.
He apologized, no one was hurt, and he’ll probably just sit the first five minutes. Case closed.

Does anyone else think that our guys shouldn’t be at the bar in season? I remember the ‘06 team Ray, Foye, Lowry, Sumpter, etc. Those guys were never at bars in season.

Steve, that’s not exactly true.

Steve-

Like Chris said, that is not true. In terms of Stokes’ situation, I really don’t think being cited for public urination is a big deal though. We all have done it at some point, and the police around Villanova are hard-asses. He owned up to it, now it’s time to move on.

Not that big of a deal. You of course wish he had been smarter about it, but it’s harmless in the long run. Not like Reggie’s situation or stealing laptops ala UConn players.

Obviously I couldn’t be at every bar all year long but I don’t ever remember seeing Randy, Jason at a bar and ARay and Sumpter only once or twice and not with drinks in hand.

Peeing in public isn’t a big deal, we’ve all done it, BUT it pretty likely means he was drunk. If he doesn’t miss a game it’s no harm, maybe I’m just overly optimistic in thinking that these guys wouldn’t be in Kelly’s postgame.

Yeah not trying to argue, I was only a freshman that year but I remember seeing them out pretty reguarly, and if not at bars they were at parties.

I agree with everyone not a big deal. He’s a kid like the rest of the students. Who cares.

have to agree 06 team was out quite a bit. They often had a few celebratory drinks after games

“…Peeing in public isn’t a big deal, we’ve all done it, BUT it pretty likely means he was drunk.”

You are a not a very bright bulb based on your assumption. 9:05 pm late tipoff for Senior Night game vs USF and by the time the game ends, postgame meeting with coaches, showers, talking to friends..so what time does that get the group to Kelly’s for bite to eat & beers postgame?…probably around 12:30.

PA Bars stop serving at 2pm.

Drunk…really? Your assumption states that in that short time at a post game gathering attended by multiple teammates, they all sat around playing drinking games. That is exactly what you said. I suppose there was a Beer Bong present also in your alcohol driven fantasy.

Dawdling late night outside a Pub or Denny’s or campus corner with friends following a get together is a national past time for young people.
Kelly’s closes and the players are all standing together talking about the big trip to Syracuse 2.5 days away..And we all know draining the weasel in the parking lot while you dawdle is what happens at these times whether you drank a beer or not.
