#1 Must Wait

On a rare Saturday where Villanova didn’t play, the Wildcats needed help from another group of Wildcats to make history.  With Kentucky losing to South Carolina on Tuesday night, Villanova had a chance to become #1 in the nation for the first time in school history.  The Kansas Jayhawks downed the Kansas State Wildcats in a nailbiter though, so in all likelihood, Kansas will be #1 and Villanova #2 when the new polls come out on Monday.

Not really a big deal if you ask me.  It would be cool to hold the top spot, but being #1 in the very last poll is all that matters.

Agreed. Pitt fans wouldve traded that #1 in mid-February last year for a trip to the Final 4! Let KU have it, we’ve got enough to worry about next weekend without carrying an additional burden.

I agree but it was fun to talk about it. I think a #1 ranking could help in the recruiting wars as well, a nice bragging right. How can we be off for such a long time. Also how sweet was it to watch Gtown kick dukes ass yesterday that was excellent!!! GO Nova!!

Watching the Georgetown-Duke game was like watching two of my most hated things in the world battle it out. The stadium imploding would have been the only acceptable result.

Although I guess, GO BIG EAST.

I root for the teams we beat, makes us look better! Marquette had a nice win over UConn as well. Maryland lost to Clemson but they’re doing well in the ACC.

I wish we couldve faced GaTech and K-State in PR instead of Dayton-Ole Miss. Dayton in particular has struggled in A-10 play.

What the hell is up with this guy Katz?

Rankings now basically mean jack shit, but come on, giving an edge to ‘Cuse after they just beat Depaul by 2? And of course, their loss to Pitt by 9 or whatever was better than our loss to Temple (minus Redding and Yarou, a Big 5 game and JW just getting acclimated!
I guess everybody is entitled to their opinion, but give me a break. Kinda weak argument on his part I think.

I look forward to the 27th. Even if we lose, we’ll learn from it, AND I’m a firm believer we’ll be there in the end!

I agree with you Pope that guy katz is an asshole. Also I am watching North Carolina against Virginia man they both suck….how the heck was NC ranked 5th. The whole ACC sucks!

One of the things that has Villanova served well in recent memory is not getting up in outisde distractions, such as rankings, experts’ opinions, etc. Jay always seems to get the team focused on the right thing, which is the next game. Although hard to do, we as fans need to keep it in perspective and try to focus on the Cats and their next game.

Well analyzed and spoken.
