Final Four in the Past, Time for a New Season

The 2009-2010 college basketball season has officially started.  Numerous teams held their respective “Midnight Madness“ (or some variation)last night.  As you all know, Villanova will celebrate the the new campaign with Hoops Mania next Friday night, October 23rd.  In effect, it is time to focus on the task at hand: reaching the NCAA Tournament this year.  Last year’s Final Four run was unbelievable and truly something people (including myself) will never forget, but the time is now to close the book on 2008-2009.  Jay Wright and his team agree, as Dan Gelston of the Associated Press found out.  As Wright puts it,

We’re doing all the Final Four things now.  Then we’re going to say, ‘That’s it.’  Let’s get fired up about ‘09-’10.  Let’s put it behind us.

Scottie Reynolds adds,

It’s kind of like the closure of the Final Four thing.

In addition to the Wildcats getting things underway, the rest of the Philly-area teams have begun official preparation for the upcoming season.

1. Cats have a captive audience for this upcoming Friday night since everyone’s Midnight Madness was last weekend. 2. Cats are coming off of a Final Four year. 3 Cats are highly ranked coming into this year. 4. There is increased interest by the VU alumni as a result of the recent successes of the B-Ball team. 5. Nobody broadcasts any of the teams’ Midnight Madness.

Why can’t the Cats set up an internet broadcast of the Cat’s Midnight Madness. Unless there are NCAA rules againist it, it’s a great opportunity!

appreciate the links VUBBall. definitely some good stuff. jay from orange-in terms of broadcasting hoops mania, you definitely make some strong, valid points but i gotta assume there’s some ncaa thing preventing teams from airing their midnight madness events, as i do not know any school in the country that ever has. the ncaa has so many bogus rules (i.e. no alcohol consumption at ncaa tournament games), so my guess is that’s why these events are not broadcasted.

Gneral comment: Chris and Brian great job on the blog…very enjoyable reading, keep it up.
Pops, think about sprinkling in a few F bombs every now and then to get the fans fired up (especially Big Ed).

Thanks for the note. We’re a little slow right now because we’re all pretty busy (and not much going on) but when the season starts we’ll have a lot more content.

Can’t speak for Brian but we’ve been known to go on a few drunken rants on here when the situation calls for it. I’m sure he’ll fit right in.
