It’s been circulating throughout campus since yesterday, but today it was confirmed. Jay Wright has been named the OppenheimerFunds Coach of the Year in the BIG EAST.

That's 2 in 4 years for Jay!

That's 2 in 4 years for Jay!

“Wright has won Coach of the Year honors for the second time.  The first was in the 2005-06 season.  This year, he had directed Villanova to a school-record 25 wins in the regular season and a 13-5 league record.  The Wildcats are expected to receive their fifth straight NCAA Championship bid this Sunday.  In eight seasons as the Villanova head coach, Wright owns a record of 173-89 (.660).”

That’s a great honor for Jay. I honestly didn’t think h’ed win, but I think the last week of the year, especially the blowout of Providence and Keno Davis, really sealed the deal. Congrats to Coach Wright!

And for those of you worrying he’ll leave, don’t stress yourselves out. He’s here to stay, at least until we win a National Title.
